Shanghai Consumer Council has received a dramatic increase in complaints in the period from January to October.

Xiangqi, Mobike and Ofo are the top three most complained-about brands. Xiangqi heads the list, with 3,771 complaints.
Consumers’ complaints focus on three aspects — the cash deposit, billing, and customer service.

Those complaining about the billing system said they had found the bikes they had paid to use often couldn’t be ridden due to problems like breakdowns or flat batteries. But once they had scanned the QR code, the system started to charge them.
Although shared-bike firms have hot lines, many people said it was too difficult or impossible to get through to customer services in case of queries or emergencies.
The council is calling on an improvement of the bike-sharing service systems and better implementation of their customer services.
Improved regulation and supervision are also required from the shared-bike managements.
Concern about shared-bike is rising across China.
According to Beijing Evening News, the shared-bike firm Kuqi has been swamped by cash deposit complaints, with nearly 1.5 million users saying they can’t get their money back.
Another firm, Bluegogo http://www.cheapmlbjerseysredsox.com/Craig-Kimbrel-Jersey/ , has also been accused of failing to return deposits to users.
The Beijing headquarters of both Kuqi and Bluegogo were reported to be closed on Wednesday and yesterday.
VANCOUVER, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of people gathered Sunday at a festival in downtown Vancouver, intended to boost public awareness about and acceptance of autism, a neurodevelopment disorder that affects one in 68 kids born in the province of British Columbia in west Canada.

In the crowd of spectators, Tayana Forsyth said she had been bringing her 14-year-old autistic son Bryce to the event each year.
"Spreading awareness is important. I think it leads to acceptance and that's the goal," said Forsyth, who also writes a blog to share the challenges and joys of loving someone who lives with autism.
Acceptance makes people understand autism a bit better, she said.
Besides promoting awareness, the festival is also a major event to raise funds to help provide services to families who live with autism on a daily basis.
Fund raised at the festival and by the network helps to support sports, social events and employment programs for kids and young adults with autism.
Robbie Cruikshank set the record this year by raising more than 65 http://www.cheapmlbjerseysredsox.com/Chris-Sale-Jersey/ ,000 Canadian dollars (52,000 U.S. dollars) in donations.
"I care about what goes on with the Canucks Autism Network because I have autism, and I just like to help spread the word and raise awareness and make sure it's heard," Cruikshank said.
The president of the Canucks, Trevor Linden, said the key to the success of the festival and the autism network lies in team effort, similar to that of his hockey team.

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- A new study finds that the United States made little progress from 2000 to 2010 in reducing relative disparities between people of color and whites in exposure to harmful air pollution emitted by cars, trucks and other combustion sources.
The study builds on the work led by University of Washington (UW) researchers in both 2000 and 2010, identifying that disparities in exposure to outdoor concentrations of a transportation-related pollutant, namely nitrogen dioxide (NO2) http://www.cheapmlbjerseysredsox.com/Steven-Wright-Jersey/ , were larger by race and ethnicity than by income, age or education.
The relative inequality persisted across the decade.
For the study, published in the recent issue of Environmental Health Perspectives, the researchers developed a first-of-its-kind model that combines satellite and regulatory measurements with land use data to predict pollution at a neighborhood level throughout the United States.
Measured in parts per billion (ppb), estimated average annual NO2 exposure decreased from 17.6 to 10.7 ppb for nonwhite populations, and from 12.6 to 7.8 ppb for white populations.

Considering relative differences, nonwhites experienced 40 percent higher exposures than whites in 2000; in 2010, that gap shrunk slightly, to 37 percent. Furthermore, in 2000, concentrations of NO2 in neighborhoods with the highest proportion of nonwhite residents were 2.5 times higher than in neighborhoods with the lowest proportion of nonwhite residents.
