| CLEVELAND -- Chris Colabello isnt taking a single moment in the majors for granted. Russell Wilson Seahawks Jersey . After spending seven seasons playing independent ball in Canada, Colabello has finally made the big time and hes savoring every pitch, every swing and every game. And so far, hes made the most of each one. Colabello drove in four runs to raise his AL-leading total to 11, Brian Dozier scored three times and the Minnesota Twins outslugged the Cleveland Indians 10-7 on Sunday to take two of three games in the series. Colabello, who spent 2005 to 2011 paying his dues in the Canadian-American Association before signing with the Twins in 2012, broke a 6-6 tie with a three-run double in the sixth inning off Blake Wood (0-1). The 30-year-old Colabello also had an RBI single in the fourth as the Twins concluded a season-opening road trip before playing their home opener Monday. "Its awesome," Colabello said of his fast start. "Every day I get to spend in the big leagues is awesome, regardless of how many hits I get or production. Obviously, its nice to help the team and contribute. Its been exciting. Its fun to wake up every morning and do my job." Joe Mauer had three hits and scored twice for the Twins, who took advantage of wildness by Cleveland pitchers. Of Minnesotas 10 runs, seven were set up by either a walk or hit batter. Anthony Swarzak (1-0) picked up the win in relief of Twins starter Ricky Nolasco, and Glen Perkins worked a perfect ninth for his second save. "It was a crazy game," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "A lot of stuff happened. Im glad we won." David Murphy had four hits, Jason Kipnis had three RBIs and Yan Gomes hit a two-run homer for Cleveland. Indians starter Justin Masterson didnt get through four innings, but got his second straight no-decision. He pitched seven shutout innings at Oakland on opening day. After the Indians rallied from a 6-2 deficit on Kipnis three-run double in the fourth and Murphys RBI double in the fifth, the Twins loaded the bases in the sixth when Wood walked Dozier, put Mauer on intentionally and then hit Jason Bartlett. Colabello, who turned down a $1 million offer this winter to play in Korea, then cleared the bags. Gardenhire is impressed with how well Colabello, who was the International League MVP and played in 55 games for the Twins last season, has adapted. "Coming into the spring he had a chance to go overseas and make some pretty good money," Gardenhire said. "He elected to stay here because he wanted to play in the big leagues. Its worked out for him. Hes taken full advantage. Its a good story. " Masterson lasted only 3 2-3 innings, allowing five runs and seven hits. He walked three, hit two and needed 97 pitches to get 11 outs. It wasnt the type of performance the Indians are accustomed to from their No. 1 starter, who couldnt reach agreement on a long-term contract during talks with the club during spring training. "It seemed like it was one of those days in general," Masterson said. "You want to make some adjustments, but it just didnt happen." Bartlett was forced to play in the outfield for just the second time as a pro, and a had rough day. Bartlett, who was brought in after Josh Willingham was hit in the wrist by Masterson, misplayed the carom off the angled outfield wall on Kipnis double, couldnt handle a sinking liner to left-centre and was hit by a pitch. "Goodness gracious, the wind was brutal out there in left field," Gardenhire said. "It was a tough one for him, but we had no choice. Weve got a couple of infielders who have to play the outfield in those situations. We have to figure something out." NOTES: Gardenire received dozens of text messages after getting his 1,000th career win on Saturday. With 20 points (8 G, 12 A) and impressive possession (57.4%) in 16 games, Forsberg is starting to open a gap in the Calder Trophy race. While his percentages (16.0 SH%, 15.9 on-ice SH%) arent going to remain so lofty, Forsberg is generating 3.13 shots on goal per game -- right there with veterans Marian Hossa, Patrick Marleau and Henrik Zetterberg -- enough to indicate that his production isnt all good fortune. Nino Niederreiter – Tallied a hat trick against Buffalo, generating nine shot attempts (5 SOG) with strong possession stats (18 attempts for, 5 against, 78.3%), playing a career-high 18:32, in Minnesota’s 6-3 win. Niederreiter has eight points (6 G, 2 A) in the past 10 games, and has been a solid possession performer (57.3%) for the Wild this season. Mike Hoffman – The Senators’ rookie winger scored a pair of goals, including the overtime winner, in a 4-3 win at Edmonton. Hoffman has six goals in the past five games and is generating shots at an elite rate. LINEUP NEED TO KNOW Jared Spurgeon – Back in the Wild lineup, and none too soon, as Marco Scandella and Jonas Brodin were diagnosed with mumps, leaving the Wild suddenly thin on the blueline. Spurgeon had a goal and eight shots on goal in 29:27 of ice time, the second-highest regular-season ice time of his career. Dan Boyle – Returned to the Rangers’ lineup, playing 22:14 in a 4-3 shootout loss to Colorado. John Moore – Led the Rangers with 24:38 of ice time against Colorado, his most since a couple of games in February, 2012, when he played for Columbus. Alec Martinez – The Kings’ blueliner left, with a suspected hand injury, after playing 11:55 against Dallas. The Kings have been walking a salary cap tight rope with recent injuries on the blueline, so if Martinez is going to be out, more maneuvering will be needed. Alex Killorn – The left winger returned to the Lightning lineup, playing 13:33 against San Jose, primarily with C Valtteri Filppula and RW Ryan Callahan. Sergei Gonchar – The newly-acquired Canadiens defenceman played 20:08 against Boston, and had favourable possession (17 shot attempts for, 12 against, 58.6%) stats. FANTASY FOCUS There are half a dozen games tonight, so here are some players to consider for your lineup: Matt Read – The Flyers’ winger has one goal and six points in 14 games, but has points in back-to-back games for the first time all year and is skating with Sean Couturier and Brayden Schenn on what should be a solid two-way line. Pascal Dupuis – It appears that the Penguins are shaking up their top six, which means Dupuis returning to the right side with Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz. Dupuis has one point in the past six games, but a chance on the wing with No. 87 is a favourable move. Peter Holland – The Leafs centre is suddenly getting a chance, playing 17 minutes per game this month and he’s scored six points (4 G, 2 A) in the past six games. Sam Gagner – It’s been a brutal start to his time in Arizona, with four points in his first 16 games, but Gagner is getting quality ice time and is getting more shots on goal (19 in the past six games).
